I know the results living in the world without humility. Let me tell you it’s not pleasant. It’s filled with bitterness, resentment, and self-destruction. My prideful existence led to a selfish way of life preventing me from seeing the needs of others.

But God saved me and showed me the fruits of humble life. I no longer live for myself because Christ changed my sinful ways.

One of God’s greatest gift is freedom of choice. He loved Adam and Eve enough to give them the opportunity to choose Him after their disobedience (Genesis 3:22). This was when He gave birth to humility.

The world can’t understand a humble existence. Because pride is at, its center. So, it’s not surprising the problems this causes throughout the planet.

As a Christian humility is a powerful spiritual principle leading to a life anchored in God’s word with eternal rewards. The Lord promises the devil will flee from us when we live a humble way (James 4:7-10).

And Satan knows a real child of God is off limits. Wow, knowing Christ protects us from the Lord’s enemy. How awesome is that?

I think you’ll agree with me when I say humility is a tough way of life but when lived brings astonishing results. For example, when we humble ourselves to Christ then God sees our faith and blesses us with spiritual treasures. Here we discover meekness unlocks God’s Spirit, and He radiates His presence inside our soul.

 

I’m sure you’re with me on this one, nothing compares to experiencing the Holy Spirit. God always makes His presence standout.

In Jesus’s sermon on the mount He shared this:

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

                                                                           Matthew 5:5

The first part of Christ’s message is easy to digest. He shares humility as a favorable virtue. His opening word shows God’s approval through a blessing.

But the end of Jesus’s reality is harder to comprehend.

The first thing to remember, God’s meanings differ from man’s interpretations. Man’s definition of “inherit the earth” is prestige and power. But, the Lord’s version sees the world through Christ’s eyes.

Here’s what I mean. First, God created everything with love and goodness (Genesis 1:1-31). And Christ shared in this amazing transformation (John 1:3). So, inheriting the earth is connecting with its goodness. Not from human experience but through a spiritual awakening anchored in Christ Deity.

 

 

Humility captures Christ’s attention because it shows Him our willingness to live a spiritual life. And a spiritual life means denying oneself for the love of God. It’s in sacrificing the lust of the flesh humility emerges. So, surrendering our wills shows an act of modesty.

A characteristic of modesty is showing thankfulness for what we have and avoiding an outlook of ingratitude. And in God’s eyes, this pleases Him.

Given these points, humility paves the way to a meaningful and purposeful life. It derives from a dedicated life where Christ is the focal point and giving to others without expecting a return becomes second nature. So it’s in those actions humility takes on a crucial role in our Christian lives.
