Infinite Faithfulness

Fruit of the Spirit Series

We have now reached the fruit of faithfulness. Faith is an infinite action resulting in a place in heaven. It’s our conviction in Christ that God accepts us into His Kingdom. Without trust in Jesus, our inheritance of eternal life isn’t possible.

One reality we receive from God is through abidance in Christ; our eternal future ends in heaven. Faith is simple, but it involves much more than a belief. Faith is an action centered on a life devoted to Christ and anchored in God’s word.

Saving Faith

When Jesus walked on earth, He shared with His Disciples about infinite saving faith. He knew they believed in God and wanted to reassure them that trusting in His Deity provides them a place in heaven.

Christ Said:

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.”

John 14:1-4

When Jesus spoke these words, He had already disclosed His impending death (John 12:35-36). In these four scriptures, He told them not to be disturbed over His death. Christ made it clear that believing in Him is real, and through faith, He prepared them for an everlasting place in God’s kingdom.

Saving Faith
Eternal Faith

In the last two verses, He unearths His resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Christ said He would come again and unveil the way of salvation. However, His Disciples didn’t grasp this message.

Apostle Thomas had trouble understanding Jesus, and John recorded Christ’s answer.

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

John 14:5-6

Here Jesus made it known faith in Him is God’s new covenant with humanity. From that point onward, the only way to God rests solely on faith in Christ. Jesus explained to Thomas quickly and understandably that He is salvation (Romans 10:9). This truth holds today; without the same faith, our place in heaven stays elusive.

Apostle Paul revealed the same truth in his Epistle to the Ephesians (Ephesians 2:4-9). In those six verses, we see salvation emerges through God’s grace and faith in Christ. And this clarifies saving faith.

Christ made Peter His rock because he believed without reservation that Jesus is God’s Son (Matthew 16:13-20). And when we follow Peter’s wisdom, our eternal destiny with God becomes a reality.

The Mighty Hand of Faithfulness
Faith’s Power

These are a few examples of saving faithfulness. We can see Christian faith is infinite. Many more illustrations of faith are in the New Testament and available for your investigation. Faithfulness grabs God’s attention, and He blesses us with eternal life.

How do you see faithfulness?
