The Book of Daniel
In the Book of Daniel, we witness God’s absolute sovereign control. Contained within these pages are undeniable accounts of His authority over people and rulers of nations.
God’s Undeniable Authority
The primary purpose of Daniel’s book is to unveil God’s undeniable authority, control, and mighty power.
Psalm 46:10 says:
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!”
As shown above, God revealed to the psalmist that He would make Himself known to all nations.
We see this truth unfold in Daniel’s time on earth.
The Lord used Daniel to bring King Nebuchadnezzar into His incredible existence. At this point in this king’s reign, he wasn’t challenged. No, Nebuchadnezzar ruled with complete domination. But when God placed Daniel under his supervision, it opened his eyes to His sovereign control.
Our Father protected Daniel from Nebuchadnezzar’s fury.
He placed Daniel’s friends in the burning fiery furnace (Daniel 3:21). When Nebuchadnezzar witnessed their survival (Daniel 3:26-27), he declared a decree that if anyone spoke against Daniel’s God, they would face death (Daniel 3:29). God showed the king His indisputable presence (Daniel 3:28).
Another account of God’s unimaginable sovereign control came when Daniel survived the lion’s den. Again, God spared Daniel’s life (Daniel 6:21). This time, Darius was king and acknowledged God’s incredible power.
Darius spoke these words:
Then King Darius wrote:
To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth:
Peace be multiplied to you.
I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth,
who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. (Daniel 6:25-27, NKJV)
As shown above, God’s absolute sovereign control entered Darius’s spirit. Here, we come up close with the Lord’s divine intervention. Our Father instilled within this king’s inner self that Daniel survived the loins because of His powerful existence. As a result, Darius acknowledged God as the supreme Ruler.
These two miraculous acts of God’s dominance over the world leave no doubt about His ultimate control.
Conclusion
Given these points, we gain a vital and critical understanding of God’s absolute sovereign control. We can agree that the Lord unveiled His control in our lives. For me, He controlled the outcome of my alcoholism by saving me from severe physical problems from excessive drinking. This experience showed me that anything is possible with God.
I love hearing about your experience with God’s sovereign control.
