Devotional Wednesday
Holy meditation is as significant as blood and oxygen are to physical survival. When the body becomes deprived of blood and air, it shuts down and eventually dies.
The same holds true with holy meditation.
Neglecting the mind from thinking about God’s word leaves it vulnerable to the devil’s schemes. The lack of divine reflection weakens the defense against temptations.
Holy meditation doesn’t involve breathing techniques, chanting, body posture or mind quieting. No, it’s a deep contemplation of His truth. It pleases God when we mentally breathe in His word absorbing the essence of His holiness. It stores His eternal reality in our conscious and subconscious minds.
When we ponder on the Lord’s will, it glorifies Him. We show Him our faith in His eternal plan by setting aside time to think about His precepts. And it helps draw us closer to Him and unite us with the Holy Spirit.
The Old and New Testaments provide us with great scriptures to meditate on. Both are important to observe because they reveal God’s covenant with humanity. Within, the pages of the Bible are all we need to think about because it unveils our Father’s undeniable presence.
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.
(Psalm 119:15, ESV)
