Devotional Wednesday
The bread of life is full of God’s love, grace, and wisdom. This spiritual nutrient contains a faith filled with eternal security. And it’s Christ who provides this supernatural manna.
When Jesus walked on earth, He used bread and water (John 6:35) as the required ingredients to live in God’s kingdom. Christ wasn’t referring to food for physical survival. No, He unveiled His death, resurrection, and ascension back into heaven as the only bread leading to salvation (Romans 10:9-10).
It’s in Jesus that I discover the Christian ingredients for an everlasting supper. When I believe in Him, the endless supply of saving bread fills my spirit. This astonishing revelation keeps me devoted to drawing closer to God.
The world’s bread shows the appearance of freshness, but once bitten into, the taste brings forth a musty and dissatisfied aroma. The food Satan offers causes the spiritual veins to clog, hardening the heart and cutting off the holiness of God.
However, Jesus’s daily bread is delicious, desirable, and life-changing. His meal brings us to God’s table, where the Holy Spirit fills us with an infinite supply of soul food.
Today’s Scripture
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (John 6:51, NSV)
