Giving Thanks in Times of Uncertainty

It’s difficult giving thanks in uncertain times. I’m sure you’re with me on this one. Showing God gratitude in tribulation brings an inner peace (2 Thessalonians 3:16). This supernatural serenity strengthens our faith because the Holy Spirit comforts us in troubled times.

Remember, God placed us in Christ, and with Jesus, nothing separates us from Him (Romans 8:38-39).

Eternal Thanks

Giving thanks in a world fueled with hatred and wicked deeds from evil people look impossible.

For example, the current pandemic (COVID-19) exposed the powerlessness of humanity. Many nations responded with fear. They created a terrifying society. Over time, people became disgruntled with restricted rights, displaying frustration and anger.

In addition to this virus, violent protest, rioting, murder, and other sinful behavior continue rising. This increase in crime creates a hostile and unsafe civilization.

So, what’s the solution?

Christ Jesus!

Indeed, it’s with God’s Son we discover every circumstance that brings a thankful opportunity (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

I think you’ll agree with me when I say sin coupled with a life without Christ brings eternal devastation. Yes, without Jesus, no one enters heaven (John 14:6).

Trust and Thanks

Here’s something we both can agree on: trusting Christ changes everything. As a matter of fact, spiritual thankfulness emerges from faith.

When I trust Jesus, my carnal outlook shifted. I no longer chase self-gratification. Instead, my heart gives thanks to God for His gift of salvation (Psalm 107:1). It’s with this grace I know my time on earth is temporary (1 Peter 11:12).

Make no mistake, my friends, the key that unlocks God’s kingdom is Christian loyalty. Once that door opens, then a profound thanks for God’s love takes root (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Thanks for Christ

With Christ, our faith grows and we find spiritual courage (Ephesians 6:10-18). This incredible inner strength allows us the ability to overcome any unfavorable results. Here’s what I mean. Sometimes we struggle with unresolved problems. Yet, with our constant trust in Jesus, we move past those troublesome circumstances and find peace of mind.

Prayer and Thanks

One of the greatest Christian experiences is prayer. It’s through prayer believers find resolutions to unwarranted problems (Jeremiah 33:3). This unimaginable result breeds gratitude.

Here’s the interesting part. The more God answers prayers, our thanks for His mighty works become a natural part of our spiritual lives.

I make sure of my prayers to thank God. First; I express glory for His name. Then I give thanks for saving me from the evil one. Next, I thank Christ for His death, resurrection, and ascension. Not to mention praising Him. And if that’s not enough, I remember to recognize His truth.

Thanks and Prayer

As shown above, giving thanks is important because God spared us from eternal damnation. He sanctified us by turning us over to Christ and anointing our hearts with the Holy Spirit. For this reason, gratitude is our best policy.

How do you thank God?
