God’s Final Resolution

God’s final resolution rests solely on Christ (John 14:6). He made Jesus His last covenant for humanity (Luke 22:20). This revelation provides us with His truth concerning our eternal destination.

Every new year people make resolutions. They make promises to change unacceptable behavior that cause them trouble. For example, I used to pledge to myself not to swear, but I couldn’t find the inner strength needed to change this sinfulness. My New Year’s resolution always failed.

Christ Declares God’s Resolution

Christ’s Deity is a declaration of God’s resolution for salvation. Jesus’s Gospel is our Father’s ultimate verdict for humanity. I must accept this reality, because rejecting this crucial truth turns me to Satan.

Jesus spoke many words about God’s eternal plan. He used parables, quoted Old Testament scriptures, and performed miracles that showed God’s undeniable existence. Everything Christ unveiled is evidence of the Lord’s heavenly resolution.

One of Jesus’s best descriptions of this epiphany comes in the Gospel of John. We discover it in his fifteenth chapter.

Christ said:

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. (John, 15:1-4)

In these four verses, Jesus declares Himself as God’s Savior. We see the essence of God’s resolution by making Christ the centerpiece of salvation. Abiding in Christ is the key to a spiritual life filled with our Father’s love and divine grace.

Jesus uses fruit as the measure of one’s eternal fate. Christ unmasked God as the Judge of one’s acceptance of His presence. Our Messiah shows us that God discards those who reject Him. The good news is that by accepting Jesus, He sanctifies our hearts and manifests His holiness in our spirits.

Did you notice Jesus sanctifies us through His word? Indeed, He made it known that abidance in His truth assures us of our place in God’s kingdom. Nothing pleases God more than adhering to Christ’s word. We see this truth because God anointed us with a new birth (John 3:5-8).

Christ’s Resolution

The last verse brings the light of the Holy Spirit. Jesus shows us that without devoting ourselves to Him, the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) remains elusive.

The Vine of Discipleship

The vine of discipleship begins with abidance in Jesus. As mentioned above, Christ is God’s true vine.

With that said, Jesus disclosed the rest of His valid message.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. (John, 15:5-8)

Christ highlights two undeniable, tangible outcomes to my eternal resting place. He promises me, through faith in Him saves my soul. But warns me of hell for rejecting His word. In all honesty, Jesus tells me God will give me over to Lucifer unless I abide in His Son.

In the next to the last verse, Christ untangles the wisdom behind abidance in Him and the Holy Spirit’s presence in His words. It’s the Holy Spirit that His word lives within us (John 16:13-15). This revelation unlocks God’s response to our petitions. By following this divine blueprint, God promises us answers to our prayers.

Jesus ends His divine directive by showing us obedience to His Gospel glorifies God. When we follow Christ without reservations, it exalts God, and He rewards us with many blessings. It’s in these blessings that we discover His permanent resolution to sin.

God’s Resolution

Summary

Given these points, God’s final resolution to humanity’s fall from His grace rests upon Christ. Yes, it’s Jesus who opens the door to God’s kingdom. This doesn’t mean, as a believer, I won’t fall short in adherence to His truth. No, I disobey and sin. But through repentance, God shows mercy and forgives my transgression. This doesn’t give me the right to continue my inequities. I will face Christ’s judgment.

What’s your outlook on God’s resolution?
