Praying From The Heart

Here’s something we both can agree on is praying strengthens our bond with God. Yet, we wonder if He is listening to our prayer.

It’s easy to doubt prayer.

You’re not alone.

Believe me, I understand the struggles with praying. When I want a response from God and it doesn’t come, it causes me uncertainty. I become baffled over why He isn’t listening and question the meaning behind prayer.

So, what’s the solution?

The answer is praying from the heart.

And our greatest teacher on how to pray is Christ.

Rightful Praying

In the Gospels of Matthew (Matthew 6:9-13) and Luke (Luke 11:2-4), Jesus answered the Disciples question on how to pray. It’s known as the Lord’s Prayer and is Christ’s blueprint for praying from the heart.

Our Messiah unveils God’s approved method of praying and shows us the essential ingredients in constructing a useful prayer.

Jesus model prayer starts with acknowledging God and giving glory to Him. This allows us to humble ourselves to God.

Next, it shows us our responsibility to God by following His will. Then it highlights the way to, ask the Father for spiritual gifts. And then Christ places forgiveness as a necessity.

Praying For His Will

The final part of the prayer heightens God’s power to lead us away from temptation and protect us from evilness. This provides us the strength to live in a wicked world.

As shown above, Christ is precise on how to pray.

The Power of Praying

I think you’ll agree with me when I say prayer is the heartbeat to God’s Spirit. Each of us has profound experiences with God through prayer. And praying from the heart brings powerful results.

Nothing pleases God more than praying with a sincere heart. Make no mistake, my friend, He is watching and responds to an earnest petition. In fact, most answered prayers are the result of a humble approach.

My personal experience with following Christ’s instruction of praying my trust in God increases. Every time I follow this approach to God it allows me to overcome every troubling circumstance. How awesome is that?

As shown above, praying in the way Christ teaches leads to a life filled with God’s grace. So, when you struggle with prayer, remember to turn to Christ and pray from the heart.

    Walter,
As always, thanks for your Godly wisdom. When I’m hurting, (usually over a loved one), I find comfort in this prayer. Knowing it is our template for prayer brings such peace. But sometimes, I can do little more than sit in His Presence knowing He hears my heart.
    I miss your posts.
    Best to you,
    Deb
