The Spirit of Truth

God’s Undeniable Existence

Once our Father graces us with salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9), then the Spirit of truth emerges. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom about God’s undeniable existence. Therefore, our ability to understand God’s reality doesn’t come from ourselves but from His Spirit.

God’s Absolute Truth

An early sign of salvation knows God’s absolute truth.

Christ talked about the spirit of truth.

He said:

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore, I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. (John 16:12-15, ESV)

Even though Jesus spoke these words to His Apostles, they show us how God uses the Holy Spirit. This passage indicates that God gives the Spirit of truth the words to guide us in obedience to His statutes. The Holy Spirit doesn’t act alone but is driven by God to give us Christ’s full power to live according to His will.

The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by declaring to us God’s holiness. Everything Christ possesses manifests our Father’s magnificent attributes. For this reason, we glorify Jesus by acting on the Spirit’s guidance. This incredible unison with God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit gives us the courage to live holy in a world filled with haters and full of evilness.

Accepting God's Truth
Embracing God’s Truth

The world avoids God’s absolute truth because it rejects His infinite reality. They refuse to believe, for faith in Him means being held accountable for sinful behavior. Instead, they chase after personal passions that the devil controls to keep them away from God (1 John 4:6).

The Freedom of Christ’s Truth

Christ’s truth frees us from the bondage of sin. We believe this because the Spirit of truth unveiled God’s sacrifice of Jesus as the forgiveness of sin (1 Peter 2:24). This powerful display of the Lord’s love for humanity shows us that God placed Christ as the only way to redemption (John 14:6).

Christ spoke these words:

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32, NKJV)

As shown above, God’s truth comes through Jesus. Our Father’s new covenant emerged when Christ exited from Mary’s womb (Matthew 1:22-25). He made Jesus His sole administer of His truth. And as a result of abidance in Christ, eternal freedom surfaces. This liberty from the slavery of sin cleanses our hearts and souls. Our atonement of sin frees us from Satan’s devious plan.

However, we don’t become perfect, nor are we sinless. No, the passions of our flesh still cause us transgressions, but through our devotion to Christ, the Spirit of truth brings us back into repentance. This revelation isn’t new, for many of God’s trusted servants still sinned. For example, David committed adultery (2 Samuel 11:4). Apostle Peter showed favoritism (Galatians 2:11-14). We are not without sin, but freedom from its eternal damnation prevails through Christ

My Testimony

I understood nothing about God’s truth before He saved me. Indeed, I lived according to my prideful ways. Self-centeredness controlled my actions. Selfishness motivated my ambitions, and everything I did showed a life geared toward self-gain. My self-esteem came from egotistical behaviors. Eventually, these sinful realities came crashing down and brought me to a spiritual bankruptcy that only God could fix.

God's merciful truth
Freedom in God’s Truth

It brings me great joy to share with you God’s excellent news. He saved me, placed me in Christ, and anointed me with the Spirit of truth. I’m no longer bonded to self-interest. No, I now know Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension back into heaven are the reason for my redemption.

My deepest gratitude goes to God because I understand that His grace and faith in Jesus are the truth of salvation. This revelation motivates me to draw closer to Him. I enjoy living for Christ. Today, I love serving the needs of others without expectations.

Summary

We have only discussed a limited outline of the Spirit of truth. Uncovering the full impact of the Spirit of truth isn’t spoken but an ongoing effort to live in obedience to Christ’s Deity. Remember living in God’s kingdom is a series of spiritual actions, where prayer and meditation on the Lord’s words provide the courage and strength to live holy.
